Growing New Beginnings in Transmigration Areas Through Essential Oils

For many transmigrant families, moving to a new area means starting from zero, new land, new communities, and new hopes for a better future. Agriculture becomes more than work; it becomes the backbone of daily life and long-term stability.

This shared understanding framed the visit of the Ministry of Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia to PT. Orizho Karya Indonesia, a sister company of PT. Taru Wangi Indonesia. Together, we explored how essential oil crops and processing can open sustainable economic opportunities in transmigration areas.

In many transmigration regions, farmers work hard cultivating the land, yet often rely on selling raw materials with limited added value. Through essential oil farming, communities gain the opportunity to process what they grow, transforming harvests into higher-value products that support household income and strengthen local economies.

At Taru Wangi Indonesia, our role goes beyond being a buyer. We position ourselves as a mentor and enabler for transmigrant farmers, walking alongside them as they grow.

Through hands-on knowledge transfer, we support farmers with practical training on cultivation techniques, harvesting methods, and post-harvest handling. In the field, this includes regular mentoring sessions, simple processing guidance at the community level, and ongoing quality control to ensure consistency and compliance with international standards.

Beyond production, Taru Wangi also opens access to markets, connecting transmigrant farmers to a wider essential oil supply chain so their products can reach industries and buyers beyond their local areas. By strengthening both skills and market readiness, we help farmers build confidence and long-term resilience across the value chain.

By collaborating with government institutions and local communities, Taru Wangi helps create an essential oil ecosystem where transmigrant farmers can grow with confidence, building livelihoods, strengthening rural economies, and contributing to national food security.
