Sustainability

Traceable Origins, Sustainable Impact

Sustainability Framework

In the essential oil industry, sustainability cannot be treated as an abstract ideal or a decorative label. It is a practical necessity—directly linked to supply reliability, quality consistency, regulatory acceptance, and long-term market access. For origin-based producers like Taru Wangi, sustainability determines whether a supply chain can endure pressure from climate variability, market volatility, and increasingly stringent global compliance standards.

At Taru Wangi, sustainability is therefore designed as a risk-aware, operational framework, not a promotional narrative. Our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) pillars function as an integrated system that protects raw material availability, stabilizes upstream operations, and ensures regulatory confidence for our global partners. This framework is built on direct engagement at origin, structured oversight, and alignment with internationally recognized standards—making it both auditable and meaningful.

Our Sustainability Approach

Taru Wangi’s sustainability strategy is built on three core pillars:

Environmental Responsibility (E)

At Taru Wangi, environmental responsibility begins at the origin, where long-term raw material security is determined. We promote cultivation and harvesting practices that protect soil integrity, biodiversity, and ecosystem balance—recognizing that environmental degradation directly translates into declining yield, inconsistent quality, and supply disruption. Our processing and extraction activities emphasize resource efficiency, responsible waste management, and continuous improvement in distillation practices. Environmental stewardship in our context is not framed as “zero impact,” but as disciplined impact management—aimed at preserving Indonesia’s botanical resources while maintaining commercially viable production.

Social Commitment & Community Partnership (S)

Social sustainability at Taru Wangi is approached as a core operational safeguard. We work directly with farming and distillation communities through long-term partnerships that prioritize fair engagement, knowledge transfer, and shared economic resilience. By embedding trust and transparency at the upstream level, we reduce labor instability, minimize opportunistic supply behavior, and strengthen operational continuity. Ethical labor practices and safe working conditions are treated not only as moral obligations, but as essential components of a resilient and dependable supply chain.

Governance, Transparency & Compliance (G)

Governance provides the structure that makes sustainability verifiable. Taru Wangi aligns its operations with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reinforces ethical supply chain oversight through SEDEX membership, enabling transparency, accountability, and continuous assessment. In parallel, REACH compliance ensures that our essential oils and natural isolates meet the regulatory, safety, and documentation requirements of key global markets. Together, these governance mechanisms mitigate compliance risk, protect market access, and allow our partners to source with confidence from Indonesia.

These pillars guide our operations from farm to finished product and align with global ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) standards required by international fragrance, cosmetic, and personal care industries.

Alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Our sustainability initiatives support the following SDGs:
