We started asking this question after noticing something in two patchouli plots during the dry season. Both plots were planted around the same period, but the plants did not look quite the same as the season became drier. The plants on one plot showed more yellowing leaves and slower growth, while the plants on the other still had more green leaves and looked more vigorous.

One of the differences between the two plots was the treatment applied at the beginning of planting. The plot with the healthier-looking plants had received additional biorehab treatment. That got us thinking. Could the treatment be helping the plants cope with the conditions during the dry season? We are not ready to answer that yet.
There are simply too many factors that can affect plant growth in the field. Soil conditions, water availability, weather, planting material, and farm management can all make a difference. Because of that, it would be too early to say that the difference we observed came from biorehab alone.
So, What Are We Looking At?
Rather than focusing on one point in time, we are continuing to observe the plots as the plants develop. We are also extending the observation to a larger area to see whether we find similar patterns under different field conditions.
The interesting part for us is not only whether the plants look greener or grow faster. We also want to understand how they respond when conditions are less favourable, particularly during periods when water availability becomes more limited.
This matters because patchouli farming does not always happen under ideal conditions. Farmers have to work with changing weather, dry periods, and differences between one field and another. For us, making patchouli farming more resilient is not only about getting better growth in a single planting cycle. It is also about finding practical ways to maintain the land, support the plants, and keep farming possible when conditions become more challenging.
That is where this observation becomes interesting from a sustainability perspective. If better soil conditions can help patchouli plants cope with periods of stress, it could be one small part of building a farming system that is more resilient over the long term.
We are still observing, so we are not drawing conclusions yet. We want to see what happens across a larger area and through different field conditions. For now, we are simply continuing to learn from the field and asking whether small changes at the beginning of planting can make a difference later on.
